The tower is calling and I must go.
Dear friends and Family,
First off, I want to remind you that Daylight Savings kicks off on Sunday March 10th. So set those clocks ahead 1 hour and enjoy an hour of lost sleep and those longer evenings..
Secondly, March 10th also happens to be the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s annual Firefighters Stairclimb in Seattle. I will once again, for the 25th time (if you count the two Covid years), be competing in this event. What does the firefighter stairclimb entail you ask? Well, I will be hopping into a stairwell wearing full firefighter turnout gear, and breathing off a compressed air bottle. I will journey up said stairwell for a mere 69 floors (1,356 steps) before emerging from the world of mauve into a world of beauty. I will exit to a viewing area on the 73 floor of the tallest building west of the Mississippi to enjoy stunning views of Mt. Rainier, the Cascade Mountains, Puget Sound, the greater Seattle Area, and the Olympic Mountains (assuming it is sunny, which we all know it always is in Seattle).
This tower journey is not just about my exertion of huge amounts of energy climbing up stairs wearing a bunch of extra clothes. It is also, and most importantly about, raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Every dollar you donate (Did I mention it’s tax deductible?) goes to help their mission of finding a cure for blood borne cancers. So once again, I humbly ask for your donation to a great cause. Help this journey be about curing cancer, and not just a mauve stairwell.

Thank you for all of your support.
Sincerely,

What is the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb?
The LLS Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stair climb competition, and annual fundraiser held at the tallest building in town, the Columbia Center. All 2,000 participants are career, volunteer, or retired firefighters who will climb up the second tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi in full turnout gear, weighing over 60 pounds, while on-air. Throughout this grueling course, we all remember that every step forward is representative of moving closer to a cure. Although this is an extreme test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and since its inception in 1991, this event has raised over $22 million thus far.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and sincere generosity in this cause worth climbing for.
