Climb. Conquer. Cure.
69 Flights I 1,356 Steps I 788 Ft. Vertical Elevation
Greetings! My name is Kyra Taubel Bruce and I am honored to be participating in the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb as part of the Seattle Fire Department's Team Tristan in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Before I ascend the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle, I will be fundraising in the name of finding a cure.
On August 11, 2018, my cousin Tak-Fan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. In 2019, while he was fighting, I decided to run a half marathon benefiting the LLS in Tak's honor. He passed away in 2020 after a two-year battle. This year, I am climbing in his memory, and it will be the first time I support the LLS without him meeting me at the finish line. In honor of my 28th birthday in March 2023, I am aiming to raise $2,800+. I hope you'll consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal in support patients like Tak and families like ours, as well as the search for a cure.
What is the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb?
The LLS Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stair climb competition, and annual fundraiser held at the tallest building in town, the Columbia Center. All 2,000 participants are career, volunteer, or retired firefighters who will climb up the second tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi in full turnout gear, weighing over 60 pounds, while on-air. Throughout this grueling course, we all remember that every step forward is representative of moving closer to a cure. Although this is an extreme test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and since its inception in 1991, this event has raised over $22 million thus far.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and sincere generosity in this cause worth climbing for.
