Welcome to Mitchell Alberts Page

Climb. Conquer. Cure.
69 Flights I 1,356 Steps I 788 Ft. Vertical Elevation
Hello, My name is Mitchell Alberts and I am a current Longview Firefighter and I have been a career firefighter for 3 years. This year I will be participating in the 2024 LLS Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle on March 10th. This nonprofit Stairclimb is in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
My drive started 10 years ago in my childhood when I lost my Grandfather Loren Fisher to Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). A year later I lost my Grandmother Devona Alberts to Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. As a firefighter my fellow brothers and sisters likelihood of being diagnosed with cancer is substantially higher then the average population due to toxic environments that we work in. The truth is Cancer affects all of us in some way and there are nearly 2 million new diagnosis a year in the US.
I will ascend the Columbia Center in full turnout gear, while on air with an SCBA. This competition will be physically and mentally challenging for myself and other firefighters as we climb 69 flights of stairs. To me this is a small price to pay if I can help end cancer! I started training for this event at the beginning of the year and now I am asking you to support my campaign by fundraising for this great cause! Last year I completed this taxing climb in 17 minutes and 20 seconds, my goal this year is to complete the climb in under 17 minutes. I continue to put in work day in and day out. At a minimum, I am climbing 100 floors a day to EARN your donations. Please join me on my journey of taking down cancer by supporting this great cause.
What is the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb?
The LLS Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stair climb competition, and annual fundraiser held at the tallest building in town, the Columbia Center. All 2,000 participants are career, volunteer, or retired firefighters who will climb up the second tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi in full turnout gear, weighing over 60 pounds, while on-air. Throughout this grueling course, we all remember that every step forward is representative of moving closer to a cure. Although this is an extreme test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and since its inception in 1991, this event has raised over $22 million thus far.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and sincere generosity in this cause worth climbing for.
