Climb. Conquer. Cure
Hello!
Thank you for coming to my donation page! I will be climbing the tower for the second time. This year I’m climbing for my Sister In Law Kate Walker. Below is a bio from my brother about Kate.
Kate Walker is a SCUBA diver, world traveller, and avid gamer of all kinds (video games, board games, and escape room games especially). She has always been filled with the determination to succeed and to win, be it at work, in games, or in love. She was born in a tiny town in Utah and lives in Palm Springs, Florida with her partner Nick and two mischievous cats, Helios and Miranda. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and underwent surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Six years later her cancer has returned, requiring additional radiation as well as hormone-suppressant chemotherapy. But as always she is determined to fight on, to live her life extraordinarily, and to appreciate every last ounce of joy that this world has to offer.
What is the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb?
The LLS Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stair climb competition, and annual fundraiser held at the tallest building in town, the Columbia Center. All 2,000 participants are career, volunteer, or retired firefighters who will climb up the second tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi in full turnout gear, weighing over 60 pounds, while on-air. Throughout this grueling course, we all remember that every step forward is representative of moving closer to a cure. Although this is an extreme test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and since its inception in 1991, this event has raised over $22 million thus far.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and sincere generosity in this cause worth climbing for.
