Welcome to the "WE GOT THIS" charity page for Ranny Green

Climb. Conquer. Cure.
69 Flights I 1,356 Steps I 788 Ft. Vertical Elevation
Hello! I will be participating in the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb in support of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). Before I ascend the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle, WA, I will be raising funds throughout the season in the name of funding and finding a cure. Please consider making a donation to not only help me achieve my personal fundraising goal, but to benefit patients and their families everywhere.
Who is Ranny Green and why is Joe climbing in his honor?
I live in a lovely community in NE Tacoma called Lower Browns Point and Ranny was one of the first people that welcomed my family to the neighborhood close to 10 years ago before I was even a firefighter. I learned over the years how much of a treasure he is to his friends and community. An avid dog lover, his late companion, Maggie May also
welcomed my dog to the neighborhood with full wags just like Ranny did for us. Ranny is an active and influential member of the American Kennel Club (AKC) community and has quite a repertoire of writings on our furry friends. His time with the Tacoma News Tribune and Seattle
Times have further cemented his reputation in the Puget Sound Region.

To his friends and neighbors, he was a person that was always there for you and genuinely cared for others and is always quick to bring some joy to any conversation with his quick witted nature. Through the years, I've witnessed his commitment to his loved ones and friends by going the extra mile. He cared for his wife through her years of her own battle with cancer and was also an integral part in the care of another neighbor who also had cancer prior to being diagnosed with his own disease.
He was diagnosed shortly before the stairclimb 2 years ago and I've always struggled to bring myself to have the motivation to climb without a purpose outside of the physical challenge. Ranny was such an inspiration to me with his positive attitude and determination that it sprung me in to action that year and because of the love and affection
for him, I became the lead fundraiser for the entire Seattle Fire Department that year! While this year has me also starting late and the fundraising overall is in full swing, I hope that his community can come together for this cause in his honor!

What is the LLS Firefighter Stairclimb?
The LLS Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stair climb competition, and annual fundraiser held at the tallest building in town, the Columbia Center. All 2,000 participants are career, volunteer, or retired firefighters who will climb up the second tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi in full turnout gear, weighing over 60 pounds,
while on-air. Throughout this grueling course, we all remember that every step forward is representative of moving closer to a cure. Although this is an extreme test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and since its
inception in 1991, this event has raised over $22 million thus far.

Thank you for your time, consideration, and sincere generosity in this cause worth climbing for.
