Welcome to My Page, and Thank You!
Have Fun. Get Dirty. Save Lives.
Hey Friends! Nate here - I am excited to fundraise $1000 in support of ground-breaking blood cancer research through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Will you join in?
How am I doing this? Well, I am participating in the Winter Pineapple Classic and asking for YOU to consider making a small donation OR joining my team! Every bit helps :) Additionally, I will be donating my own blood to Bloodworks Northwest to be apart of new research in our local community. You may wonder, okay Nate, I hear you, but why should I support? And where do these funds go and what do they do? Read on...
- LLS has invested nearly $1.3 billion in research since our inception. Over that time, survival rates for many blood cancer patients have doubled, tripled and even quadrupled. Moreover, we have learned how to cure certain blood cancers. And many therapies first approved for blood cancers are now helping patients with other types of cancers and serious diseases.
- LLS helped advance 34 of the 39 blood cancer treatments approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2017.
- LLS dedicated $46 million to support scientific grants, including 87 new grants awarded in 2018 alone to researchers across nine countries, making LLS the largest nonprofit funder of blood cancer research.
I'm passionate about this because I get to be apart of the ground-breaking life-saving work, and I get to see friends and family, find life and hope from these life saving treatments!
Will you join me?
Before I run, walk, skip or crawl through this 5k obstacle course with a pineapple in hand in Redmond, WA, I will be raising funds throughout the season in the name of funding and finding a cure. Please consider making a donation to not only help me achieve my personal fundraising goal, but to benefit patients and their families everywhere.
What is the Winter Pineapple Classic?
The Winter Pineapple Classic is a fundraiser 5k(ish) obstacle course at King County's Marymoor Park on 11.10.19. Pineapple is not timed and is a family friendly event. All participants carry a pineapple (provided by Chestnut Hill Farms) and most dress in costume. The more money I raise the more event day perks that are unclocked! Such as a Georgetown Brewing beer garden, a Hawaiian buffet and long sleeved shirt. Although this obstacle course is a test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and since its inception, this event has raised over $4 million.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and sincere generosity. We Pineapple because beating cancer is in our blood.
- Nate Lanting
