Climb. Conquer. Cure.

Hello Friends,
Lynn and I are excited to announce that this year I will be joining firefighters Dustin Johnson and Clay Hammer to participate in the Scott Firefighters Stair Climb. In early March, we will join 2000 other firefighters from around the world to climb the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. Our objective is to raise awareness and support for the battle that people with Leukemia and Lymphoma face.
During the event, I will be wearing full turnout gear and climbing the stairs while "on air." Although this challenge is physically demanding, it pales in comparison to the challenges faced by those with cancer.
Cancer has unfortunately affected my life on a personal level. My father passed away from a rare spinal cancer at the young age of 54. More recently, I lost a dear friend, John Haigh, to bowel cancer. And as many of you know my wife Lynn was diagnosed with Leukemia, specifically APL, 13 years ago.
Lynn's journey showcases the importance of cancer research. 30 years prior to her diagnosis, APL was a very deadly cancer with limited treatment options. Researchers had made progress in understanding the genetic aspects of the disease, but they struggled to find ways to reboot the system and allow healthy blood cells to re-enter the bloodstream. However, thanks to advancements in research, APL is now one of the most survivable cancers. Unfortunately, there are still blood cancers that require further research to find a cure.
The Wrangell Climb for a Cure Team has chosen Lynn to be our Designated Honoree at the stair climb this year. We believe in the power of honoring those who have battled or are battling cancer, and Lynn's story is an inspiration to us all.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your time and to request your consideration in donating to this cause. By supporting LLS, you are contributing to the advancement of life-saving research and making a difference in the lives of those affected by leukemia and lymphoma.
