Welcome to My Personal Page
Team Joy takes to stair climbing! I will be participating in Big Climb Seattle this year to raise money for a great cause!
What is the Big Climb?
The Big Climb is a stairclimb up the Columbia Center - the tallest skyscraper in downtown Seattle, and where I work, on the 26th floor. There are 69 floors of stairs, 1311 steps, and 788 feet of vertical elevation.
And, OMG, I am doing it. Wasn't riding the STP (200 -mile bike ride between Seattle and Portland) enough? Well no.... because while it will be challenging, it pales in comparison to what cancer patients go through. All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Cancer touches all of us, and as you know, it touched our family when we lost my mom Joyce, 12 years ago, to Ovarian Cancer. I also lost my cousin Suzanne to non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, so I'll be climbing for these special ladies.
I also learned from the organizers of this event, is 40% of all blood cancer research, goes on to benefit other cancers. Besides, no matter what kind of cancer it is, it all sucks! So, this 43-year old, out of shape woman, is going to race up those stairs. Because I have my health, and what better way to feel alive, than to suffer up these stairs! I'd so appreciate any donation as I try and not embarrass myself in front of my teammates and coworkers :-)
Who is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Every day, more than 347 LLS sponsored researchers come closer to the goal of finding a cure for leukemia and related blood cancers. Your support and commitment to the mission of LLS enables us to continue this important work of saving lives and aids us in our ability to reach patients in our community.
Thank you for your time and I hope that you will consider donating to this cause!
