Climb. Conquer. Cure.
March 27th, 2022
As we are still hamstrung by COVID, we forget that cancer is among us. A family member was diagnosed with leukemia this year. I see on FB old friends praying to someone they know who is battling cancer. And I will never forget the swift death of Mom who lost her life to pancreatic cancer in seven days. I climb in memory of her.
I climb stairs to cure cancer. In the last five years I've climbed 131,592 stairs (158.2 Needles)! More importantly, you have supported me by donating $41,603 to help end cancer. Thank You!
I begin the next five years raising funds by participating in the Big Climb. This will be my 4th Big Climb. The Big Climb is to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) whose mission is to "cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families."
The event is called the Big Climb, because we will climb the stairs of the Columbia Center in Seattle. There are 69 floors of stairs, 1311 steps, and 788 feet of vertical elevation. In preparation for this, I will climb stairs regularly. It's difficult but pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients, their families and caregivers go through.
Thank you for your support!
