5 Years Fighting Blood Cancers!
Why am I involved?
I have been indirectly involved w/ T-Mobile's Big Climb Team since it started but officially climbing for five. The fight to end Blood Cancers is one that I am passionate about because I have seen the impacts they have on some close friends and their families. Ending Blood Cancers isn't where this ends, we also need to help those who have been impacted recover because so many of them have lasting complications due to the extent of this cancer.
What is the Big Climb?
Traditionally, the Big Climb was a stair-climb up the Columbia Center (tallest skyscraper in Seattle) but last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LLS pivoted to hosting this event virtually. Since the scenario around this pandemic hasn't really changed it is going virtual again for 2021! I haven't decided how I'm going to "climb" virtually yet but last year I did a long trek around Lake Youngs.
Who is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Every day, more than 347 LLS sponsored researchers come closer to the goal of finding a cure for leukemia and related blood cancers. Locally, LLS funds 10 researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington Medical Center. Your support and commitment to the mission of LLS enables us to continue this important work of saving lives and aids us in our ability to reach patients in our community.
Thank you for your time and I hope that you will consider donating to this cause!
