Help me fight blood cancers!!!
Hello! I will be participating in the Big Climb on Sunday March 22nd. Please support me with a donation by clicking the ‘donate’ button. Our efforts will help make a big difference in the fight against blood cancers.
Why am I doing this? My reasons are two fold. First off, I am climbing in honor of my sister-in-law Larissa who has had, and beat, both CML and ALL with a bone marrow transplant in 2011 from her brother Doug. She is an amazing woman, who less than 1 year after receiving her marrow transplant, did the climb with us. We are so happy to say that she is climbing with us again this year, and we'll all have to watch out, because she has been training, HARD!!
My second reason is because every day I diagnose lymphoma or leukemia is someone's furry family friend. Every time, I know the shock and sadness that comes to these families. These are awful diseases that can strike at any age and have devastating outcomes and by supporting LLS we will be one ‘step’ closer to a cure.
What is the Big Climb?
The Big Climb is a stairclimb up the Columbia Center - the tallest skyscraper in downtown Seattle. There are 69 flights of stairs, 1311 steps, and 788 feet of vertical elevation. Although it will be challenging, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients go through. All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The video below captures the true spirit of the Big Climb.
Who is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Every day, more than 347 LLS sponsored researchers come closer to the goal of finding a cure for leukemia and related blood cancers. Locally, LLS funds 7 researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington Medical Center. Your support and commitment to the mission of LLS enables us to continue this important work of saving lives and aids us in our ability to reach patients in our community.
Thank you for your time and I hope that you will consider donating to this cause!
