Big Climb 2022

Courage, patience, perseverance, and kindness, if all blend it together in one loving child, was our son Binny/Gurdeep, whom we lost 17 years back to a rare leukemia. Our team Bendy Climbers (The name "Bendy Climber" was given by Gurdeep to Children's hospital Yoga program, when he was fighting with Leukemia) is going to raise awareness by climbing 1,311 steps, so we can help save precious lives.

The challenges of 2020 brought so much of the world to a halt. Events, parties, holidays, and so much else was cancelled and postponed. What remained consistent, however, was the unflinching commitment of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to its mission to end blood cancer.

On March 27th 2021 (on Binny's 27th birthday), I will be “climbing” Seattle’s Columbia Center by climbing 1,311 steps . This massive effort coupled with our fundraising this year are no small feats but are also nothing compared to the everyday challenges that cancer patients, their families, and healthcare providers face.

Our in person events may have been postponed, but cancer hasn’t been. Cancer is not cancelled, but neither is hope.

What is the Big Climb?
The Big Climb is a stair climb up the Columbia Center - the tallest skyscraper in downtown Seattle.  There are 69 floors of stairs, 1311 steps, and 788 feet of vertical elevation.  Although it will be challenging, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients go through.  All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The video below captures the true spirit of the Big Climb.

Who is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

Every day, more than 347 LLS sponsored researchers come closer to the goal of finding a cure for leukemia and related blood cancers. Locally, LLS funds 10 researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington Medical Center. Your support and commitment to the mission of LLS enables us to continue this important work of saving lives and aids us in our ability to reach patients in our community.
