May 15th 2021 - Team T-Mobile's 8th year fighting Blood Cancers!
What is the Big Climb?
Traditionally, the Big Climb was a stair-climb up the Columbia Center (tallest skyscraper in Seattle) but last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LLS pivoted to hosting this event virtually. Since the scenario around this pandemic hasn't really changed we are going virtual again for 2021! What does this mean for you? Well it opens up options for participating across the US and also offers various methods of accomplishing the "climb" (see below for recommendations).
8 Years Climbing!
This year marks the 8th year our T-Mobile team has climbed to fight Blood Cancers and we need each and every one of you to help make this year even bigger. In years past there have been registration fees and minimum fundraising goals but not this year so any help is greatly appreciated in the fight to end Blood Cancers. Being that the climb is virtual, we would like to welcome any and all T-Mobile Employees to join the team regardless of their location. Let's virtually kick Cancers butt across the US together on May 15th, 2021! All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Since we are again participating in the Big Climb virtually there are other options available instead of the traditional approach of 1,311 steps over 69 floors up the Columbia Center. You could Walk, Run or Roll 3.2 miles or 6,555 steps in your favorite form of exersice. Fancy a good workout? You could do the ‘Step Up’ approach and do 440 chair steps in your home to accomplish your climb. There is also the tried and true traditional approach and that is climbing 1,311 steps. This can be done in your own your home, apartment building or even a community center (following any social distancing guidelines of course).
We are looking at any and all forms of engagement to make this year the best yet and welcome feedback! For those on the team who directly work for T-Mobile we have a #big-climb Slack channel set up so please feel free to join and participate there. We will also be communicating via email so be sure to check there for up to date information.
Who is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
Every day, more than 347 LLS sponsored researchers come closer to the goal of finding a cure for leukemia and related blood cancers. Locally, LLS funds 10 researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington Medical Center. Your support and commitment to the mission of LLS enables us to continue this important work of saving lives and aids us in our ability to reach patients in our community.
