Welcome to Monty's Page
Climb. Conquer. Cure.
For Dad, Juanitta, Aunt Marilyn, Papa Don, Pam, Tristan, Dawnie, Aunt Lenora, Brandon, George, and Dean.
Because cancer still sucks, I will be participating for the 7th time in the 28th annual LLS Firefighter Stairclimb on Sunday, March 10th in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). I have usually dedicated a climb to one particular person who was battling or had lost the battle to this terrible disease. All of them will be on my mind this time. I don't plan on setting any land speed records this year, but with all of your help, I am planning on raising more money towards this fight than I ever have. Please consider donating to this worthwhile cause. For the fighters and their families, sincere thanks for your time, consideration, and generosity. -Monty
The LLS Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stair climb competition, and more importantly, an annual fundraiser held at the tallest building in Seattle, the Columbia Center. All 2,000 participants are career or volunteer firefighters who will climb up the second tallest skyscraper west of the Mississippi in full turnout gear, weighing over 50 pounds, while on-air. Throughout the 69 flights of stairs, the 1,356 steps, and the 788 feet of vertical elevation gain, we all remember that every step forward is representative of moving closer to a cure. Although this is an extreme test of physical endurance, it pales in comparison to what blood cancer patients endure. All proceeds raised directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and since its inception in 1991, this event has raised over $17 million thus far.
