Help Me Kick Cancer's Butt!!
Hey! I'm Emma Merwin and here is a little bit about why I participate in the Big Climb... I definitely do not get up early on a Sunday morning and climb 1,311 stairs just for fun. I do it because it's personal. Ever since I met Colton Matter and his family when I was in 2nd grade, watching Taylor Merwin, Case, and Colton play baseball together, I have been amazed by his/their story. At the time Colton had "only" relapsed two times. However, throughout our friendship with the Matters, Colton relapsed two more times, for a whopping FIVE battles with Leukemia! Thankfully, Colton has been in remission for over four years now (praise God!)! Knowing there are other children going through this as well, breaks my heart. THAT is why I climb. That is why I spend one Sunday every March getting up early and heading to the Columbia Center to climb 1,311 steps. It's because children should NEVER have to "deal" with cancer. It's because I believe that nobody's childhood should be taken away by the ugly words that no one wants to hear, "you have cancer". No child should ever have to stress about the possibility of never reaching adulthood. THAT is why I climb. It's also why I'm willing to ask all of you for your help, through a donation, because it takes all of us to move closer to a cure. Please consider donating and helping the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society find (and fund) a cure. Thank you!
